Climbing the tallest mountain in Wales, Yr Wyddfa

Climbing the tallest mountain in Wales, Yr Wyddfa

We were not prepared. This was one of the hardest hikes I've ever attempted in my life and I'll do it again. The day was not the best weather-wise, but a little bit of rain, clouds and cold wouldn't stop us, as we had driven about 300 miles up from south England to get there. The climb was a lot of fun, a lot of hard, grueling, uphill walking. A good bit scary at times because of some pretty strong winds. Which ultimately made us turn around earlier, about 80% of the way up, as the winds, cold and steepness became a little too much to bare. We definitely came very unprepared. Some trainers and a cheap coat did not cut it. Considering most people overtaking us were equipped with walking sticks, rugged boots, heavy duty coats, goggles and even radios. But we pushed as far as we could in our circumstances.

We went for the Lianberis path as its the most achieveable way up Yr Wyddfa, a steady walk/climb upwards with increasing difficulty, challenges, and views.

Here's what I managed to capture on our climb. Although admittedly, I was rather scared to even whip out my phone, let alone my camera the further we got up. The winds got harder, the drops sheerer, and the climb steeper. But definitely good fun.

This concludes the last day in Wales. Check out the other places we visited on our first and second day of our trip! If you like this content, consider signing up to my newsletter to get notified of new posts!
